About
The Team
The NPLAB team, based at the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications (di.uoa.gr) of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, explores the complexity of the genome with an emphasis on gene regulation and the functional interpretation of non-coding regions.
The focus is placed on the integration of bioinformatics and machine learning approaches for the identification of genomic regions such as promoters, enhancers, splice junctions, and translation initiation sites.
Special attention is given to the study of genetic variants within these regions and their potential impact on transcriptional control, RNA processing, and downstream regulatory networks.
The aim is to contribute tools, resources, and knowledge that support research in functional genomics and computational biology.
